5 Simple Steps to Kick Stress to the Curb!

We can all agree that stress has a way to suck the joy out of us. If you feel a lack of JOY this is a good time to stop, decompress and to empty yourself. Some of the things that trigger stress are overworking, being around negative people, being hard on yourself, inability to say "no"or the desire to please, being overwhelmed.

The first step in reducing stress levels is to recognize how stressed you are and what's causing it. You can easily recognize the first signs of stress by paying attention to yourself; your first clue is your inability to solve minor problems and taking life too seriously.  Here are some easy steps to figure it out. 

1 -Take you journal or a piece of paper and a pen sit down with yourself and answer these questions.

What makes me happy?
Are my needs being met?
What are the main sources of stress in my life?
How can I continue to give to others while loving myself?

You can now add the questions that are relevant to you.

- The most inexpensive way to reduce your stress level is to take a mental health day. You don't have to take a day off from work. Just choose a day to "disconnect."  Turn off your phone, computer, and television. Turn your bath room into a spa. Fill up your tub with warm water and put a few add a few drops of your favorite oil for a relaxing aroma. Light a few candles. Turn on your favorite music and sip a nice cup of tea. Soak for 30-34 minutes.  You will feel like a new person. 

- Attend a yoga retreat. Yoga helps increase flexibility.  It helps detoxify and massages internal organs.  It regulates your blood pressure, increase immunity and most importantly, it has a calming effect on the mind and body. Best of all you get to spend quality time with the most important person in your life, you!

4 - Book a mini vacation - It could be as simple as 3-day weekend, even staying in town and going to at a bed in breakfast. Take a good book. Plan a hike. Take a tour of the city.

5 - Treat yourself to a day at the spa. Spend the day getting relaxing services that you enjoy, facial, manicure, pedicure, Vichy shower, steam room, sauna. You deserve to be pampered and to be still. Remember, your body is your temple and you need to take time to refuel.

The most important thing is to take time to ENJOY life. That is the best stress reliever of all.
